Personality Quiz: Which Comic Book Company Figurehead are You?
Imagine for a second that you’re the figurehead for a major comic book company. Your highest profile book is late. Really late. Like “I couldn’t get into R-rated movies when the last issue came out but I just saw 300” late. In one forum or another, one of the fans of said comic book asks you why the book is so late. How do you respond? Do you:
A) Apologize and express an effort to meet release dates in the future.
B) Blame the artist and say you have no control over when books get released.
C) Sob uncontrollably.

If you answered “A”, you are
Dan Didio:
When asked at a panel at Wizard World LA about the schedule of ASSBAR, Didio expressed understanding of fans’ frustration and said DC is trying their best to get the book back on a bi-monthly schedule.
From Newsarama: “The very first question was about the infamously late shipping schedule of All-Star Batman & Robin. DiDio, in a noticeably more serious tone, said that Jim Lee is apologetic about being behind and the book should soon be back on a bi-monthly schedule. The same fan said that this type of occurrence is representative of testing loyalty in fans, and DiDio said he understands that and is trying to remedy such issues.”
If you answered “B”, you are
Joe Quesada:
When asked in New Joe Fridays week 38 why Ultimates II #13 still hasn’t seen print despite being solicited for release seven months ago, Joe expressed his complete ignorance of a bit of info reported on Newsarama and claimed he had no way of knowing what stage the book was at, even though Newsarama seemed to have no problem finding out.
From Newsarama: “I can’t publish a book I don’t have. I don’t know when Bryan announced that the book was finished, but we don’t have the entire thing in house. Bry and Paul Neary shuffle the pages amongst themselves (as they live close to each other) so it makes it very tough to know at what stage the book is at. Plus they do go back into the work in order to add those extra little details that everyone loves. My understanding is that at this point we’ve seen a good portion of the inks done and coloring has begun, but we don’t have it all and we don’t have a cover for the issue yet as well. So, the truth of the matter is that it’s really a question that you need to ask Bryan as he probably has a better idea of where everything is than we do.”
If you answered “C”, you are clinically depressed:
Seek professional help or your local liquor store.
While Marvel’s delays annoy the crap out of me (I can’t defend them at all), DC’s at the minute annoy me more.
I order stuff in advance as there are no stores near me, so if I don’t order I miss out. Then DC cancel books for months on end (Wonder Woman, Action Comics etc.) and then instead of getting the material you were promised you get a crappy filler story.
I would much rather wait to get the story that was people told. I’m dropping Action Comics, I couldn’t care less about Fallen Son after the crap that’s gone on.
